A naive Britt, a skilled Kato and a smart Lenore – a perfect mixture for the crime fighter ‘Green Hornet’. Unlike other superhero movies, The Green Hornet is a group of two men, Britt and Kato, with amateur crime-fighting experience but have hi-tech tools and vehicles to support their action. Britt is the son of a newspaper empire (the Daily Sentinel) tycoon, while Kato is the car mechanic and coffee maker in Britt’s house. So, how can they be partners in fighting crime? Well, they share a same vision, bring justice to the people of Los Angeles.

Audiences’ rating for The Green Hornet movie is four stars. Well, the movie is ‘not bad’ and certainly better than Kick Ass. The Green Hornet superhero movie is very logical and funny! For having cool stuffs to fight crime just like Batman’s, a superhero must have sufficient funding. That’s why Britt is a tycoon. And there is always the weapon guy to create unique superhero weapons, here we have Kato who is not only good in building powerful anti-bullet and weapon-ready cars, but also excellent in martial art. Actually, the Green Hornet partnership is unbalance. Britt makes himself the chief of both, and Kato is only his sidekick. It’s really not fair since most of the superhero works are accomplished by Kato. However, Kato doesn’t mind for he has considered Britt his own brother.

As Britt and Kato start their superhero career, this beautiful journalist, Lenore Case, applies as Britt’s secretary for The Daily Sentinel newspaper. Lenore has special interest and advanced analysis in crime cases. Britt uses Lenore’s ideas to fight Los Angeles crime. Lenore’s ideas cetainly direct them to wipe out the whole narcotic dealers on the streets. The Green Hornet is getting popular since Britt always makes sure that all their strikes printed on the Daily Sentinel’s headline. Problems occurs and getting worse when both Britt and Kato fall in love with Lenore. Their brothership is torn and the Green Hornet action is in danger. Fortunately, they can get over it before the evil ‘Chudnofsky’, head of Los Angeles gangsters, finishes them.

What I like most about The Green Hornet movie is it made me laugh from the beginning to the end. Sometimes it’s because of the silly superhero actions, sometimes because of the plot and sometimes because of the funny dialogues. After his father died, Britt cut off the head of  his father statue. Audiences may think that Britt is a prodigal son. But it happens because Britt’s father purposely broke the neck of Britt’s superhero doll which he loved most when he was a kid. So, it’s somekind of revenge. However, the story ends pretty nice. Britt welds back the head of his father statue with pride since this time he has known what a great man his father was – the Daily Sentinel was meant to bravely deliver the actual crime reports of Los Angeles city.

Directed by Michel Gondry, The Green Hornet movie features Seth Rogen as Britt Reid (the Green Hornet), Jay Chou as Kato (Green Hornet’s partner), and Cameron Diaz as Lenore Case (journalist) . When I was a kid, I always asked my grandma to tell the Snow White story every day. It was funny that I never felt bored. Though I already knew how the ending would be, I always listened like it was the first time I heard it. Just like the other fairy tales, the best part of Snow White story is virtue always wins. This story shows a contrast between pure innocent young lady and tricky evil stepmother. Snow White who has skin as white as snow, lips as red as rose, hair as black as ebony, lovely face and beautiful voice is facing a beautiful yet wicked stepmother who is the dark magic expert. Hm, Snow White really needs more than luck to survive and win a happy ending haha… This simple classic romance has lasted for generations.

What evil queen that the ‘Eat, Love and Pray’ star will perform? I believe Julia Roberts will be a perfect Snow White if she were twenties, but … well, in her advanced age, the evil queen is an irresistible challenge for an experienced artist like her. However, the Brothers Grimm : Snow White is in development. No details are announced regarding the production. The Brothers Grimm : Snow White movie will be directed by Brett Ratner and scheduled to be released in 2012.

The Brothers Grimm : Snow White is different from the previously announced Snow White and the Huntsman by Universal Pictures.  Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman which is directed by Rupert Sanders, may have Kristen Stewart as Snow White, Viggo Mortensen as the huntsman, and Charlize Theron as the evil queen. The Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman is scheduled to be released on December 21^st 2012. Wow, both Snow Whites are released on the same year, what an interesting rivalry.

The Universal Pictures will have Stewart as their Ace while the Brothers Grimm : Snow White will have Julia Roberts. But I will be more than happy if they put both Stewart and Roberts in one movie – Stewart as Snow White princess and Roberts as the evil queen. If so, whether it has to be the Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman or Brothers Grimm : Snow White, the movie will hit the top Box Office for weeks, or maybe months? Come on, the Snow White fairy tale lasts for generations! LOL

The first time I read the title ‘Abraham Lincoln : Vampire Hunter’, I really thought it was ridiculous. Someone has made fun of the 16th President of the United States! How can anybody ever come out with such an idea that Abraham Lincoln had something to do with vampires? Funny yet interesting. The 21st century is the superheroes’ century since we have seen many classic superheroes back in action, and most of the movies tell how they  become superheroes. Since they have successfully risen the classic superheroes in this very century, why bother to bring the finale so immediate? They actually can make more money from the movies since Batman’s fans range from kids to adults.

This guy, Nolan, certainly knows how to bring story to live and makes the action increases the tense. Shame if he ceases the Batman series so early. I believe there are still lots to tell about the Dark Knight and Gotham city crime. We haven’t sensed the Robin, the Batgirl, and friends. Batman in Christopher Nolan’s hands is a real masterpiece.

Just hope that Nolan will change his mind. Well, they always change their mind, don’t they? Matrix will have the 4th and 5th, Pirates of the Caribbean is having the 4th on May 20^th 2011, and Scream 4 will be released on this April 15th 2011, so … why not? Batman : Dark Knight Rises will start the filming on this May 2011. They have lated 12 weeks from the schedule. I just can’t wait to see Hathaway’s Catwoman. Told you this is the Awards season. While waiting for the upcoming Oscar, the 17th annual SAG (Screen Actors Guild) Awards has announced the winners yesterday, January 30th 2011. The King’s Speech was under the spotlight! The movie won the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture category. I am glad they used ‘outstanding performance’ in all the categories. It showed the greatest appreciation to all the winners that they really have delivered outstanding performances in the movies or TV series. For movie, SAG awards five categories, and the other eight categories were for TV series.

Colin Firth – The King’s Speech and Natalie Portman – Black Swan won the outstanding performance of male and female leading role actors. Natalie was lovely in her simple all-white gown. She’s more likely a White Swan than the Black Swan. I remember she also wore simple pink gown in the Golden Globe Awards. Is she always this simple? Haha… Well, Mila Kunis, the female supporting role in Black Swan wore a lovely fire-colored long tailed gown. She certainly looked perfect in that color. Jesse Eisenberg was as rigid as usual, and what a surprise that The Social Network went home empty handed! This very movie is nominated in eight categories of the upcoming 83^rd Academy Awards. This certainly makes the rivalry between ‘The King’s Speech’ and ‘The Social Network’ become more interesting on February 27th Oscar.

The best male actor in supporting role was Christian Bale for The Fighter, and best female actor in supporting role was Melissa Leo also for The Fighter. Back in 1996, Scream was the best horror movie for me. It let me feel both tense and curiousity. Since then, I’ve been a faithful fan. I was happy Scream 3 had a happy ending. Sidney Prescott finally could have some peaceful life with her dog. Oh I love dogs. I think hers was a Golden Retriever.

The idea of having Scream 4 movie confuses me a bit. Why don’t they just let Sidney, Sheriff Dewey and reporter Gale enjoy their peaceful life? Why there are always psychos in ghost-face mask to spread terror? Isn’t it the main problem of all Scream series? The psycho in ghost-face mask who always has relation with Sidney Prescott. Scream 4 movie introduces a new decade after the previous tragedies. After ten years of peaceful life (I think the Golden Retriever may have died since I can’t see it in the trailer), Sidney Prescott returns to her hometown and guess what? The terror is back. Told you, there are never-ending psychos waiting for their role in this movie hahaha… so, the rest of the story will follow the usual pattern – a phone call, a male stranger who ask for chit-chat, the chit-chat turns into intimidating, a psycho in ghost-face mask and black cloak comes out and does some chasing and killing stuffs, screams are all over the house, somebody injured or died, case opened, sheriffs and reporters on the move, investigation made, traps, and so on to finally the psycho is caught (sometimes they caught wrong person) haha…

However, I am glad that David Arquette, Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox committed to Scream 4. It’s wonderful to see them again in their roles. When you watch Scream 4 movie trailer online, you’ll discover that Sidney Prescott is getting more mature. Well, I prefer ‘mature’ rather than ‘old’ since she is one of my favorites. While Courteney seems … old haha…, in my surprise, David Arquette doesn’t look old at all. He is indeed more gorgeous. I am hoping that Scream 4’s Sydney Prescott will be tougher than before. I am imagining she is in face-to-face combat with the psycho in mask and yells : “Hey dude, you must be kidding me. I have survived three series and you are just a newcomer. What makes you think you can kill me?” LOL

“Behind a great man, there’s always a great woman”. Who can figure out that Facebook actually exists because of this girl, Erica Albright. The Social Network movie began with Mark and his girlfriend, Erica, sat and chatted in a bar. It is very interesting to know what kind of man Mark Zuckerberg is. He talks very fast! Nothing came out from his mouth that I understood, haha… I had to hold fast to the subtitle. Mark, being arogant but also naive,  upset her so bad that she broke up with Mark. And it was the starting point of the world’s phenomenal Facebook. How?

Well, it’s obvious that Mark did love Erica. You could see that he was very mad of the broke up and the first thing he did after that is ‘revenge’. That very revenge has hit marvelous record (20.000 visitors) in one night and opened the path to nowadays’ Zuckerberg yet it was also a ‘check-mate’ for his relationship with Erica Albright.

The Social Network movie is not only to let us know how Facebook was born and how it achieved such a marvelous record – 500 million users, but also to introduce the man named Mark Zuckerberg. Aren’t you interested? Since you are so addicted with his creation (I know you visit Facebook many times daily), you should know what kind of man the creator is. According to the movie, Mark was a less expressive man, not a very social, and very obsessed with his dream. But he was a lucky man, not only because he had that brilliant mind, but also he had Eduardo Saverin. Too bad that Mark took his friendship with Eduardo for granted.

The history of Facebook involves these two men, Zuckerberg and Saverin. Mark Zuckerberg was the mind and Eduardo Saverin supported the fund. The story actually showed that Zuckerberg was a jerk. Wow … truth hurts huh? He might have stole the ideas from the Harvard guys, used Saverin to achieve his goal, and maybe … a brilliant get-rid plan to make Sean Parker (Justin Timberlake) stay away from Facebook. And the funniest thing is the director, David Fincher, put this line at the ending, “You are not a bad guy. You just tried so hard to be one”, said a young female lawyer to Mark in a meeting room. Well, for me, he is bad enough haha…

Anyway, if you want to be successful, learn from the Social Network movie, learn from Mark Zuckerberg! Facebook was in his vein. He thought of it all the time, when he ate, walked, talked, he was totally obsessed with it. He is the type of person who will do anything to make his dream come true. And this is the key to success : focus. Just don’t take friendship for granted. “You don’t get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies”. What do you think?

As the Social Network movie started with Erica, it also ended with her. Mark was sitting alone at a meeting room, looking at his laptop and there she was, Erica Albright’s Facebook profile page. Mark was going to send a friend invitation, but cancelled it finally. Thanks to Erica Albright that we have Facebook today. And as all great stories are, the Social Network movie is also about love.

The drama thriller Black Swan movie has offered something ‘beyond control’ to the audiences. While ballet is all about control, Darren Aronofsky, the director, introduces a ‘lose control’ ballet – the character of Odile, the Black Swan.

What beauty does a Black Swan have? Okay, let’s be fair. If you have to pick between white and black swans for your dinner, which one will be the perfect choice? Obviously the white one will bring more appetite. That’s it! Because she is black and not as beauty as the white swan, she actually has no chance to win the Prince’s heart. She must have something more than only the look, and it’s her ‘deathly seduction’ which all men can’t resist.

“There is a giant inside everybody”. This saying can be both positive and negative. Giant can be a super ability that enables us do magnificent things, or a beast that waits to be released. In Nina Sayers’  (Natalie Portman) case, the giant is a marvelous beast, the other her with no boundaries of control.

Black Swan movie shows a heavy struggle between Nina and the other her. It all started when Nina had this strange dream about she performing Swan Lake in different choreography. And the tense developed when the obedient Nina was trying to fight for the Odeth-Odile role. We cannot deny, Nina could finally discover her perfectness because of Thomas Leroy (Vincent Cassel) and Lily’s (Mila Kunis) interferences.

The Black Swan movie is also a psychological thriller. Nina Sayers is a girl with two personalities. Why she didn’t find out before? Because it has no reason for the other her to show herself out, until Nina felt ‘enough’ for the control. The control of her mother, the control of herself, and the polite behavior she always has to maintain. Now, it’s the turn of the other Nina Sayers who will do anything to get what she wants. Be careful … haha…

The other Nina Sayers grows stronger day by day. Aronofsky actually pictured the progress quite scary with the bleeding scars, broken nails, and torn skin. Aw… I closed my eyes when I saw some sadistic scenes. Well, I peeked a little haha… or I cannot write the Black Swan movie review well. The lose-control Nina is actually very sexy and full of lust. Wait until you see the complete take over by the other Nina Sayers, Aronofsky has pictured it perfectly. Nina’s eyes turn to total red and she is never the same Nina again.

My most favorite scene is when the Black Swan Nina performs the legendary 32 fouettés en tournant, the legendary 32 nonstop spins. She spinned, spinned, spinned while the black furs grew and covered both of her arms to form a pair of perfect Black Swan wings. Then she arrogantly swung them, flapped them and ended the dance in a wonderful Black Swan pose.

“The only thing that stands between you and Black Swan is YOU”, Thomas told Nina before she performed her Swan Lake. Many times, the obstacles that stand between us and our goals are actually ourselves. Black Swan movie shows us that the real battle is inside, not outside.

Awards, awards and awards. What a lovely opening of the year 2011. The Golden Globe has just concluded and now we are anticipating the Oscar. This year is the 83^rd Annual Academy Awards. Glamor as usual, I believe the invited actors and actresses are busy preparing the best outfit for the night and the red carpet pose. This is what I love most about the red carpet pose, the artists’ in luxurious fashion show haha … I can feel the flick of “who has the best gown” competition in the air.

The Oscar nominations were announced in 24 categories – best motion picture of the year, best leading role actor, best leading role actress, best supporting role actor, best supporting role actress, best directing, best screenplay, best screenplay writer with material previously published, best animated film, best foreign language film, best cinematography, best editing, best art directing, best costume design, best make up, best music – original score, best music – original song, best sound mixing, best sound editing, best sound effect, best documentary – features, best documentary – short subjects, best short film – animated, and best short film – live action.   “And the winner is …” will be announced on February 27^th.

Watching our heroes on stage receiving the golden bald-muscled-man trophy is really amusing and we really feel happy for them. But this year’s Oscar is quite nonsense since many of the qualify heroes are eliminated for nominations. Paul Giamatti with his best actor Golden Globe hasn’t passed to the Oscar best actor nomination. While Black Swan is the nominee for best motion picture of the year, Mila Kunis is not included in the best supporting role actress. Same with Inception which is also nominated for best motion picture of the year, the director Christopher Nolan isn’t in the best directing nominee. And the worst is, the Social Network which is included in eight categories yet Andrew Garfield and Justin Timberlake have no place among them.

However, it is not the juries’ opinion worth most. The claps and ‘bravo’ shouts from the audiences are the true value for their hard work. Though some are not included in the Oscar nominations list, they will always be our heroes of true entertainment.

Amanda Seyfried, this girl, since the first time I saw her in “Jennifer’s body”, I knew she was really something. Her eyes, her lips, all of her is an attractive mystery. Yummy … she’s is like a treasure hunt for me. The more I pursue, the deeper I’m tied to her. This girl certainly has an unspeakable beauty. When you saw her act, you will never stop asking “what’s next?” I think I fall in love with her … haha…

Then, Catherine Hardwicke, do I still need to introduce her? Come on girls, you are crazy with the Twilight Saga and dunno who the director is? Yeah, me neither, until now haha… who cares about the director so much anyway? But you need to now, since it’s the Red Riding Hood we’re talking about here. Don’t you wonder what will happen when Hardwicke, the vampire-werewolf specialist, paired with Seyfried, the attractive mystery? Well, one thing for sure, the Red Riding Hood is not the child story anymore. You will want to check out the Red Riding Hood trailer to sense the horror.

The play that only includes three characters – the girl in red hood, the wolf and the grandmother, is not very much to tell. But in the hands of Catherine Hardwicke, the Red Riding Hood is a classic resurrection. She develops the story to make it more logical to the audiences, and again “Love” is the theme. Amanda Seyfried, as the beauty Valerie in the story, has to choose between her love and the man her parents decided. After she has made her choice to run away from the village with the man she loves, something stops her and she have to stay … the wolf? As the story developed, Valerie feels so much connected to the wolf which makes her a suspect and also a perfect bait.

As it should be, the Red Riding Hood should be the battle between the girl in red hood and the wolf. What kind of battle will Hardwicke bring to the audiences? Since this wolf is no kidding, it won’t wear grandma’s gown and chat nicely with the little girl. Hardwicke’s wolf is too much to handle for a girl. Indeed, it takes the whole village and experts to deal with. Sound serious huh? I will definitely watch this movie, but it’s more likely for Amanda. She’ll be just perfect in the blood-red hood. Oh yes, talking about red, the Red Riding Hood has a really cool red moon, better than New Moon’s moon. Red, red and red again …

Red Riding Hood trailer has two versions. The first one was released on November 2010, the second one was just few days ago. Based on the trailers, the girl-wolf battle will not be a tricky-question battle. It will involve brains, physics and instincts. And what does love have anything to do with “Believe the legend. Beware the wolf”? Ah! That’s really a tough question. Does ‘Twilight’ have anything to do with spotlight, flashlight, or any lights? LOL

Sweethearts, the answer will be on theatres by this March 11^th. Meanwhile, you can enjoy the Red Riding Hood trailer and decide by yourselves … has Catherine Hardwicke lost her Twilight touch?

Well, I’m sure they will find somebody, and I do think the movie is already ‘hot’ without knowing who the director is.
