Trivia: While preparing for the role, Brando became friendly with a young Al Lettieri, who was an acquaintance of real-life Mafiosos. Brando based much of his performance on Lettieri. Brando and Lettieri would later co-star in The Night of the Following Day (1968) and The Godfather (1972).

Goofs: Continuity: When Edie’s father is packing his clothes, Edie holds a cat with her left hand and moves its paw with the other hand. The next shot shows her caressing the cat’s back.
